🐂Our Ranch
Our goal is to produce gourmet quality, all-natural grass fed, grass finished beef the way nature intended. To us this means quality, healthy beef that is grown and finished on nothing but grass - period. Our cattle are grazed rotationally and sustainably and produce delicious, healthy beef. We raise our cattle the old fashioned way, the way it was done a hundred years ago before the small family farm disappeared, and industrial agriculture became the norm.
We raise Aberdeen Angus cattle, because this ancient heritage breed finishes extremely well on grass and produces excellent tasting, high quality beef. Aberdeen Angus are easy calving, good natured cattle that are very feed efficient and maintain themselves on grass.
They have excellent taste, texture and tenderness beef characteristics and an exceptional rib eye area per hundred pounds of body weight which translates to very high yielding, high quality, high value beef carcasses. They are great mothers, very hardy, small and easy to handle.
We unconditionally guarantee that our meat is free from antibiotics, hormones, chemical feed additives, grain or animal by-products. Our meat is processed under USDA inspection.
Why Aberdeen Angus?
Any breed of cattle can be finished on grass; they just don't all do it well or taste good. You've may have heard the comment about grass fed beef having a "gamey" taste or being "tough as an old shoe." Unfortunately both those statements can be true, not all grass fed beef is created equal. Without the right breed of cattle and plenty of good grass and fresh water for them, the meat is not going to be the best. Our Aberdeen Angus (AKA known as "Lowline Angus") heritage beef has been bred for generations to finish well on grass and taste delicious. Our breeding stock are registered and DNA tested to the original Aberdeen Angus herd to ensure quality and consistency. Aberdeen Angus mature early on nothing but grass, allowing us to harvest when the animal is young and the meat is tender and full of natural flavor. It is the best beef we've ever eaten.
Animal Health
Grass is the food nature intended for cattle - not grain. Grain is difficult for ruminants to digest and can literally make the animals sick; thus the use of antibiotics in feedlots or CAFO (Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation).
Our Aberdeen Angus cattle are raised and finished on our ranch, where they graze rotationally on grass in open pastures in the fresh air and sunshine. They drink our pure, clean mountain water from the glaciers above us. We are committed to a natural and compassionate approach to sustainable ranching.
We do not use antibiotics, hormones, steroids or grains on our animals. Humane treatment results in low stress levels and better health, eliminating any need for antibiotics or other drugs.
Good for the Land
Industrial grain-based CAFOs (Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation) or feedlot operations pollute the environment, expose cattle to inhumane conditions, require intensive consumption of fossil fuels and produce much higher levels of environmental pollutants. Feeding cows a diet of grazed grass requires much less fossil fuel and impacts the environment in a more positive manner. Sustainable ranching and management intensive grazing, practiced on our ranch, helps keep cattle, air, land, and water healthy and can actually lower our carbon footprint.
